  • 1998 1100 STX running issues

We have a 1998 1100 STX with a new engine. Swapped the CDCV carbs for the CDKII carbs with dual pumps and an accelerator pump. The carb swap cured the off idle acceleration issues. The running issue is it breaks up over 5000 RPM's with either carbs. I suspect the flywheel and am looking for input. The previous engine ran but it lost the mag end crank seal. It was all chewed up under the front cover and wore down the lugs on the flywheel that rotates past the trigger. I suspect that the fact that they are rounded and worn down will cause weak and erratic spark at higher RPM's. What do you think?

On a second note the CDKII carbs do not have the radius cable groove making the throttle cable to long and I can not take up enough slack to get WOT. What would one recommend for a cable replacement? Do I need to change the intake? I have the 1-3 balance tube.

Thank you for any and all advice.
