  • 2000 Kawasaki stx 1100 spark loss while riding

My question is, is the crank position sensor supposed to create a small 2.7 volts voltage while the engine is being cranked over like the manual says it is supposed to ? It has passed the ohms test but has no voltage coming from it while I crank over my engine. I lost spark in all three cylinders after 5 minutes of riding. The ski has been acting up lately when we ride it.

The only test I know of for the CPS is in the manual.
    See the following.
    "Crank Position Sensor (CPS) Inspection
    • Disconnect the 2-pin CPS coil leads connector (Blue) [A].
    • Set the hand tester to the X100 Ohm range, zero it, and connect it to
the CPS lead terminals (Orange and Black) in the connector.
If there is more resistance than the specified value, the coil has an
open lead and must be replaced. Much less than this resistance
means the coil is shorted, and must be replaced.
    Crank Position Sensor (CPS) Resistance
    Standard: 430 ± 30 Ohms"
