    Yamaha Oil Level Check Procedure. [VX, FX140, FXHO style engines MR1]

    1. Remove Oil Tank Fill Cap with Dipstick attached, wipe clean and replace in tank by screwing the cap until fully seated.
    2. Remove Oil Tank Fill Cap with Dipstick again and ensure the oil is between the F [full] and L [low] line on the dipstick. Add or remove oil as necessary.
    3. Warm engine and engine oil for 5 minutes by running either in a body of water or using the proper garden hose method [see below].
    4. Remove Oil Tank Fill Cap with Dipstick and wipe clean and replace in tank by screwing the cap until fully seated.
    5. Remove Oil Tank Fill Cap with Dipstick again and ensure the oil is between the F [full] and L [low] line on the dipstick. Add or remove oil as necessary.

    ** Running engine while on garden hose. **
    1. Attach appropriate flush fitting to garden hose and install on Yamaha flush port, DO NOT turn water on yet [If you turn the water on prior to starting the engine, water can cause a hydro-lock condition in the cylinders which can cause severe damage to the engine].
    2. Start engine.
    3. Turn water supply on.
    4. Run engine while confirming water is flowing out of the exhaust and other cooling ports.
    5. Let engine run for 3-5 minutes, but no longer.
    6. Turn water supply off to the engine.
    7. Accelerate the engines once or twice to remove excess water from exhaust system.
    8. It is now safe to turn the engine off.
