  • Ideas for whats causing this problem?

This is a question about my father's 98 SPX. It has had a new wear ring and everything replaced in the pump just before he puchased it. When he goes to take off, it revs up and feels like it has air in the pump. It does go but not quickly, after about 2 seconds, it seems to level out and bam it takes off like it should. It is just the initial get going problem. What could this be, there is nothing suck in the pump.

    Thanks

Somebody didn't get the pump sealed up right where it bolts onto the pump support plate. It sounds like the pump is sucking air and causing the impellor to cavatate.

Thanks Bill, you were correct about the neoprean seal, infact it wasn't even there. Another problem I found was the splines inside the impeller were almost gone.

      Thanks for your help.
