Yamaha 2001 1200XL PV with 133 hrs. I have converted it to pre-mix, added primer kit plus D-plate and chip and current YVPS valve assemblies as recommended by SBT . When doing all that I took carbs apart, found nothing and put them back together. The ski was hard starting, died a lot on the water at idle and generally ran bad. I decided to tear carbs down. In doing so I removed the Welch plugs. The high-speed needles came out ok. #3 (P) low- speed came out ok and was all the way in. #1 (M) low turned maybe ¾ turn out and #2 (C) low would not move. From SBT forum Tech I should set the high at: ½ (M, P), 7/8 (C) +/- ¼ and the low at: 1-1/4 (M, C), 1-1/8 (P) +/- ¼. Assuming all lows were in all the way, my best low settings will be ¾ (M), 0 (C), 1 ⅛ (P). Are these low settings good enough? I can’t imagine drilling them out! (I’ve soaked with PB Blaster, used a heat gun and careful to not gall the slot). Also are the high settings the correct ones? Thanks for any ideas.
