  • Winterize new sbt engine?

New to the forums here at SBT. My 1999 GP1200 seized on me this summer and finally got around to replacing the engine last week. Unfortunately temps have dropped in NY (air in the 30s F and the bay is 45 F). Dont want to get stuck out on the water and have hypothermia set in while waiting for sea tow. All I've done with the new engine is start it and idle it on the trailer for a few mins, no break-in in water yet. Should I just fog it and run a little antifreeze thru as usual? Will fogging mess up the new engine without breaking in?

It will not hurt the new motor, even if it hasn't been broke in yet. Just follow your usual winterize routine and you will be fine. The fogging will make sure everything stays lubricated throughout the winter.
