  • SD 782 timing curve ?

Does anyone KNOW (not guess) what the actual timing curve is
for the 782 engine. I purchased a MSD Ignition Enhancer and
would like to install it. The directions do not give any indication
of what stock timing curve is. Without that knowledge, it could
be detonation time ! I'd rather not do that. The MSD has the
Max retard set for the Max RPM limit. I need to know how
much retard to begin with and at what RPM. Any experienced
    insights would be GREATLY appreciated.

I don't know the stock curve. However, from personal experience, if you start with the recommended curve in the directions, you will not get detonation. I did this and have had no issues. Haven't started "tweeking" yet, I'll do that this summer.

I have all 8 of the timing curves of a 1996 XP at my office. If you want more info, call me at 626 914 9509 weekdays.

I also own a racing programmer and I can change them and the rev limits on 1996 mpems only, for a price of $100.

        Bill,

Thanks for that information. I hope to get in touch with you very
soon to get those curves. Do you need to ask me any particular
things on my setup or could you email me the curves ? I have a
        '97 SPX.

            Bill,

Thanks for responding so quickly ! Do you have any suggestions as
to where I might locate those curves ? It might be that they will
have to be gotten from SeaDoo directly. Do you know of a sure
way to get that type of information ?

I'd call Gary at Micro Touch.
