  • 787 counter balance oil?

    i checked my counter balance oil, and had no oil! motor has about 85hrs. can i just fill it up and go? or is there something more(like a problem)?

    Scroll down to 97XP, runs away, air leak.

    I understood it as the 787 consumes the oil and the injection oil takes over after the bearings are lubricated.

    Sounds like it is just there for initial running then the IO takes over.

    I stand to be corrected though.

        Oil is put in that cavity when the moter is assembled. The cavity is then lubricated via the fuel/oil mixture. You need to go ride that thing.

            I have opend case. and after looking thru I can tell you that there is no way that oil will stay in it...
            it oil will be all over the case. considering the fact that you have to put only 1 oz.

              It's not a sealed cavity on the 787.

              It is just added during assembly so when the motor is fired up the bearings are lubed, then the oil pump takes over.
