I installed a new engine from sbt. The engine starts but will not stay running. Misses real bad and when you let off the throttle you can hear it backfire in the exhaust. I have no idea why it runs this way> Can anybody help?

    Update.

I have just install a new SBT rebuilt engine in a 2006 Kawasaki STX 15F. It is running but nowhere near right. I know it is a timing issue. How to I check the timing to make sure I don't void warranty? If the cam shafts are timed correct. How to set the pulse rotor?

Got it fixed. I had to pull the motor back out. Checked the timing and found that the pulse rotor was just a little bit off center of the pin on the crankshaft. Put it back together and now runs great.
