i just retimed the rotary valve and was wondering if being off 1.5 degrees is a bad thing. it didn't seem like much to me but then again i don;t really know much. i haven't flipped the valve over yet to see if i could get it closer but if 1.5 degrees is close enough, i won't flip it over. thakns for ur reply, MAT.

ok then, but when i tok off the cover to retime it i measured it first and it was at 133 degrees so it shouldn't have really mattered then seems how it only had to be at 129 degrees. so does this mean the problem is strictly in the carbs and i just need to tune then or is there something else. Thanks------>MAT

The rotary timing does not effect the operating temp. It might effect throttle responce, but won't make it run hot.
Running lean (have you done a plug reading yet?), timing that is too far advanced, a twisted crank, wrong range spark plugs, clogged cooling system - those make it run hot.
How are you determining it is 'hot'?
Have you tried fresh plugs? What do you have them gapped to? Which ones are you using right now? Does it misfire at all, or just not rev up?
