  • Removing PTO & Flywheel on 787

I need to remove the pto & flywheel on my 97 spx with the 787 engine to replace the seals. But if I remove one of these, how do I keep the shaft from turning so that I can remove the other? I saw a flywheel lock in my manual but haven't been able to find one to buy.

I have heard about stuffing a rag or rope down the cylinder to lock the crank in place but I would think that this would stress the bearing on the wrist pin.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks
    Jim

If you apply even gentle torque while unscrewing the PTO and use some heat on it, rope is just fine. The flywheel holder is only available through a Sea-Doo dealer, and I don't know of many who use it at all.
