  • oil ratio from pump

I have a '97 SPX with the 782 engine. Does it have the same oil
delivery ratio at lower rpm as it does at mid and wot rpm ? If not,
do you know what those ratios are at those speeds ? It seems
that a modified engine (raised comp, etc) would require a bit
more oil in order to keep everything adequately lubricated for
    higher rpms'.

It TOTALLY depends on what kind of mods you are talking about, as to how much oil is needed.

I believe that pump varries between 150:1 at idle and 40:1 at WOT.

      Bryan,

Thanks for the very quick answer ! I guess it would be good to add
a little oil in the gas to make sure there is plenty going in. Have a
great day and keep up the good work on this board !

We built a 1165 cc motor out of a 782 and ran nitirous. The 1995 XP went 82.3mph. We used the STOCK oil injection. We had zero oil related problems......... I think your "guess" is wrong. Opinions vary, but that is mine.

          Bill,

Thanks for your opinion. That must have been quite a wild ride !!!!
82+ mph on that light hull........that would probably make some people soil their suit ! How well did the engine hold up at that size ? What kind of rpm did it turn in order to get that speed. Was that just an experiment to see how big you could get an 800 or to see how fast you could get one to go ? Very interesting to hear about engine work using some imagination. I think some other people looking at this board would be interested in hearing about some other of your creative projects.....I know I would.
