THANKS FOR THE INFO ON REMOVING CYLINDERS.WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO TELL ME WHERE THE LITTLE O'RINGS ON THE LONG BLOCK THREADS GO WHEN RE-INSTALLING BLOCK. THANKS DAVID FROM AUSTRALIA.

    Loopy,
Put the orings onto the studs after you install the clyinder. Poke them down into the holes right below the head surface. They are there to keep water from getting to the threads of the studs and sitting there and causing corrosion. A healthy dose of marine grease in each of the stud holes in the clyinder helps alot too to prevent water from getting to the threads.

Actually, those little o-rings on the studs are there to keep the long studs from resonating(vibrating) and breaking.

          Tommy,
You are correct. I thought of that after I posted the answer. They also help to keep water from corroding the threads on the studs, making them difficult to remove.
Although SD doesn't state the use of grease in their manuals, I like to use lots of it during assembly of the clyinder studs. Just another way of helping the next mechanic that has to work on the motor.
