  • Melting Rave Valves

The cap that screws on the rave itself was melted on rear cylinder,of a 97 GTX.What causes this to happen, and how do I fix this?

You need to rebuild the assembly, and make sure you change the o-rings on the shafts. You are getting blow-by.

The rave valves & housings should have been changed under warranty(not available now). The easiest way to determine if yours have been changed is to look at the valve, if one side has 2 grooves it's the new one and the replacement housings were not painted.
Also, before assembly check clearance between valve and exhaust port s/b less than .015"
