  • 1996 GTX Engine Miss

My 96 GTX developed a miss that seems to only occur during turns to the left. Going straight or turning right it runs good. I first thought it carb related and rebuilt both carbs and set them up as per articles on this site. No luck. I then checked rectifier(by removing red wire) and it ran great. Bought and replaced rectifier, same problem. Rechecked everything I could think of and can find nothing. Pulled red wire off new rectifier and it runs great. Any chance new rectifier is bad and how would I check it? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Yes, the regulator/rectifiers can be bad. Guess what!?! You found out how to test them!!!!!

I'd bet if you pulled the sparkplug wire connectors off of the wires and clipped a 1/4 inch off of the wires and reattached the caps, the problem would go away. This missing occurs under heavy engine load, a symptom of a bad plug connection......
