  • Any tips for removing ride plate, pump support?

i need to re seal my pump support, and have never removed the ride plate and pump support.

any tips or tricks besides the shop manual? i would like to bypass the learning curve as much as possible.

and how much heat is needed to remove the pump support?

    thanks

There's nothing special about it - 6 or so bolts and a couple cables, it pulls right off.

I do beleive that the pump support that you are referring to is plastic on your model...Do not use heat......It is sealed in with "The Right Stuff" gasket maker. It needs to be carefully removed from the hull

to late, lol well i used a little bit of heat and it came right off. doesn't look like it hurt anything. i tried to remove it first without heat, but it felt like it would break.

over all an easy job. 2 last questions

            1. the parts diagram shows both the right stuff and a clear sealant in the bolt holes for the ride plate. i thought you used loctite, is there anything else special to use on the ride plate bolts? also do the pump support bolts, in the hull get loctite? the manual didn't say

            2. what is safe to use on the jell coat to clean it for the right stuff application? can you use acetone? suggestions

            thanks for all the info

I use sandpaper to make sure the right stuff grips the hull. Use any type sealant on the bolts.
