Hot off the press, Polaris’s new range for 2003

Polaris MSX watercraft models deliver a new standard of high performance, superior handling and unmatched ride quality wrapped up in a rich, beautifully engineered design

MINNEAPOLIS – July 31, 2002 – Polaris Industries, a leader in watercraft innovations, is redefining industry standards with the introduction of three new Polaris MSX watercraft models. With a completely new platform, the Polaris MSX models offer advanced turbo-charged four-stroke and high output direct-injection two-stroke engines that deliver superior performance.

Available only in the MSX are three new engine packages. Polaris is making its grand entry into the four-stroke watercraft segment with two turbo-charged four-stroke engines – a Polaris Liberty Marine Turbo Four-Stroke 110-horsepower engine and a Polaris Liberty Marine High Output Turbo Four-Stroke 150-horsepower engine, both of which offer a superior horsepower-to-weight ratio. The MSX is also available with a new, Polaris Liberty Marine 1200 Direct Injection 140-horsepower high output two-stroke engine, one of the cleanest and most technologically advanced engines available.

The spectacular new design of the MSX isn’t just about impressive good looks – it delivers equally impressive performance. The proprietary Polaris Modified-V Progressive Dihedral Stepped hull offers better handling and more aggressive turning ability for musclecraft riders, and exceptionally smooth, dry and stable riding for up to three passengers. The innovative hull design provides superior handling in all types of water conditions. First-class luxury features result in smoother operations and a more ergonomic and comfortable ride. In addition, the Polaris MSX offers industry-leading extreme quiet performance, low emissions and high fuel economy.

Ron Bills, general manager of the Polaris Watercraft division, said the MSX raises the standard for industry-leading quality, design and performance. “The new Polaris MSX is the benchmark for others to follow,” said Bills. “This boat has passion and soul in a total package – from its futuristic design, superior handling and versatile performance to the unmatched automotive quality fit and finish. The MSX delivers it all.”

    The three MSX models are:

MSX 110: Polaris Marine Turbo Four Stroke 110-horsepower
MSX 140HO: Polaris Marine 1200 High Output Direct Injection 140-horsepower
MSX 150: Polaris Marine High Output Turbo Four Stroke 150-horsepower
All MSX models feature revolutionary sport-bike inspired styling. Attention to detail is evident from the hood and shroud’s pearlescent paint and the body’s beautiful silver metallic gelcoat to the chrome instrument pod and hood marque. The styling features exposed stainless-steel fasteners, a translucent smoked windscreen and diamond-cut non-slip traction pads.

The Polaris Modified-V Progressive Dihedral Stepped hull delivers a more buoyant, stable ride with the ability to support three adults while keeping water out of the footwells. The stepped hull and lifting strakes aide in rapid acceleration and top speed while delivering precise turns and cornering agility. The dual-integrated splash strakes deliver the driest ride available.

The ergonomics of the craft provide superior comfort designed for both aggressive riding and laid-back cruising. Fixed convex mirrors provide an unprecedented rear view without need for adjustment by riders of varying heights. A convenient, patented child grab handle on the steering module provides a secure hold for children seated up front. With a combined storage space of 33 gallons, the new MSX has plenty of watertight storage with specially integrated features, including a cargo net for cell phones and sunglasses and a beverage holder.

The mid-sized MSX line also incorporates many Polaris exclusive technological advances, including: proprietary Polaris PLANET™ (Polaris Low Acoustic Noise Exhaust Technology), which includes a system of tuned resonators to suppress exhaust and cancel out noise frequencies, reducing sound pressure levels by more than 60 percent; seamlessly-integrated cockpit instrumentation provides clear liquid crystal display (LCD) readings on all vital functions at a glance and delivers new information with the touch of a button on the handlebar; and proprietary Polaris ESP™ (Enhanced Steering Performance) technology provides steering assistance for additional maneuverability in off-throttle and off-power steering situations.

With all of these features, the MSX has raised the bar with unparalleled styling, handling and versatility in a new and exciting package. The three MSX models offer varying engine and color options and range in price. Price unavailable at this time. Descriptions follow:
