  • Replacing the Stop Switch?

I posted earlier describing problem starting a 1995 650SL. Tried seeing if there was any spark. I did not see any. At this point should I just replace the kill switch? Is there any trouble shooting I can do to bypass the kill switch in order to be sure it is inop before buying a new one? Or, is it inexpensive enough that it would be a good idea to replace it just to eliminate it as a possible problem? Where is the best parts source to order it from? Finally, what is the component that sits under the handle bar pad on top of and centered on the handle bar? Is it part of the kill switch? Thanks again for all the help!

If you have tried most everything else, then I would replace the switch.

www.partsland.com is a pretty good source for parts.

I can almost guerentee that is not the kill switch. take thing apart, then unscrew the rubber cover of the switch. If water has gotten in there it will be super corroded. If it is clean and dry I would go over all the wiring and open up the box for any loose connections. If you find nothing it is problebly a stator or coil prob.
