I'm looking to purchased a used 2001 Virage...is the Polaris 700 a reliable engine? How much compression should it have? The owner has used the Polaris Blue oil..is this satisfactory? The craft has 27 hrs on it. Thanks.

the 700 is a decent engine but not real powerful. Make sure you have 140-150 compression in each cylinder and they should not vary more than 5psi between cylinders. The oil the previous owner used is what should be used.

Thank you for the advice. I bought the Virage after a test ride. I am wondering if I can use Quicksilver Premium Plus 2 cycle oil in it. My father and I already use this oil in our outboards. Seems to burn very clean with little smoke.

If it is TCW3,you should be able to.I always run the Polaris oil in my skis.Comsuption is very low with the oil injection,so why not use the oil the motor was designed to use?
