  • 1100 STX Break-In?

I have just recently purchased a new Kawi. 2000 1100 STX D.I.. The dealer I purchased from told me that there is no need to pre-mix oil in the gas for breaking in the ski. The dealer stated that premixing the oil/gas could cause some spark plug fowling problems. The owners manual however states that a 50:1 gas/oil premix should be used for the first five hours of operation. What should I do? Anyone have experience breaking in one of these skis?

The dealer is right in that under normal use, a heavy oil mix can interfere with spark above 5500 RPM. However, he is not correct in his break-in recommendations. Follow the manual and pre-mix for break-in.

Dude mix your gas with oil at the 50:1 or qwhatever it states. Look at it this way. A set of NGK spark plugs cost you what? 8$. A new motor will cost you 1500$ and thats probably a rebuild
plugs are cheap motors are not.
