  • Crankcase Breather Valve?

I just got a 1990 Kaw 650SX and it has a choke type pull cable fastened to the exhaust. It runs under the motor to what I think is some kind of breather valve. Never seen this on any other motor and wanted to know what the purpose is and whether it was necessary. Have seen blockoff plates and was considering doing that. It looked like a good place for an air leak.

    Thanks
    Jason

It is a reed block looking assembly that allows you to get the water out of your motor after water flooding it. And, yes, it is a good place to get an air leak if it is in bad shape.

Thanks Bill. Just installed a block off plate today and will try to keep from swamping my engine so I don't miss having the valve. :D
