Some seats have straps, handles, or brackets they may require additional tools for removal.
Most BlackTip Jetsports seat covers are designed to install over your factory cover. The old cover may need to be removed or sections of it removed if it is torn or damaged. If the original is badly damaged or the seat foam is wet you should remove it completely and let the foam dry before installing the new cover.
If the foam is damaged you will need to repair it before installing the new cover or the damage will show through. Small cracks can usually be repaired with duct tape to hide the damage. Larger repairs can be made by replacing the damaged foam and then sanding the new foam to match the shape of the old foam. If your seat has extensive damage we recommend taking it and your new cover to a local upholstery shop.
Installation of the cover is easiest if the vinyl is warm, a nice sunny day, a warm shop, or a hair dryer can accomplish this. Make sure you do not have any sharp corner or protrusions before installing.
Align the cover onto the seat so that it is centered over the main section of the seat. Put a staple at each corner or curve including the front of the seat (these staples may need to be removed later as you stretch the material into place). Once you have the material aligned you can continue stretching and fitting the cover around the seat. As you staple and stretch it may be necessary to trim away excess material. You will want to use many staples around the perimeter of the seat use the original as your guide. After the cover is completely stapled in place you should trim away any excess material.
On some models with a strap you can reinstall the strap at this time if you prefer.
Cleaning and Maintenance of the seat cover should be done periodically to help extend the life of the cover. To clean the cover, we suggest a mild liquid soap similar to soap used to wash the PWC. For bird droppings or other hard to clean spots, it may be necessary to use a scrub brush. You can rinse the cover with a standard garden hose. We do not suggest using a pressure washer since the pressure could be high enough to damage the material.
