  • Exhaust Manifold Gasket - 98 GP 1200

Hey fellas. I've got a '98 Yamaha GP1200 w/ a SBT reman. engine and am wondering what exhaust manifold gasket was used during the rebuild. Its been recommended that I install a Raider 1100 exhaust manifold gasket because it allows more water to flow thru to cyl #3. Did you all use a gasket like that for the rebuild or the stock 1200 gasket?

Also, I am replacing the 'stinger' section of the exhaust pipe with one from an 1100 Raider. I had to dissemble the pipe to clean it up (full of sand) and am not sure which exhaust gasket kit to get for it (the Raider or the GP). You list 2 different part numbers for either kit, so something must be different.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

We supply the specd gasket, 1200 for 1200. That's the difference int he kits. The end water passage cutouts are bigger on the 1100. I never tested it back to back to see if it made any difference on my 1200. The 1100 stinger will give you a bit more topend though.

Cool (no pun intended), so if I go with ya'lls 1100 exhaust gasket kit, I'll get all the gaskets that I'll need for the stinger swap and as a bonus, I'll get the 1100 exhaust manifold gasket w/ the larger holes. Good deal.

      Thanks,

      Dave
