  • westcoast pipe for 650sx

I have a 1988 kawasaki 650sx and i just put a westcoast performance pipe on. i need to know the new hose routing for the cooling system. the diagram i have shows that there is an extra outlet on the bottom part of the headpipe that isnt there and i am wondering if anybody knows how to route the cooling hoses. thanks again

Most pipes are pretty simple. Water in from a high pressure source, and water out, usually to the exit coupler from the boat or bypass fittings through the hull.

Ther are different ways to route the water.

Hose from pump to motor. Tee off and go to the pipe. Exit from the pipe to the outlet fittings and dump the water overboard. If your pipe has a third fitting to feed water to the interior of the pipe, use a 1/4 or 3/8th line to feed it from a tee off of any high pressure line.

Another way is to go from the pump to the motor, from the head to the pipe and out of the pipe to the overboard exit fitting.

Some pipes have a small hole drilled through the inner water jacket so that water gets injected into the pipe to keep the couplers cool. It is usually directly under a brass water fitting. Other pipes have a seperate water fitting for the water injection into the pipe.

I think i know how to do it its just that there is 2 inlet fittings on the headpipe and i dont know if i should come into the one twords the front of the ski and out the one in the back or vice versa. i guess i am asking if it matters what direction the water flows through the cooling jacket on the headpipe. then yes there is a fitting to feed water into the tailcone section of the exaust. would i put a T in between the hose that goes between the headpipe and the tailcone and run that to the bypass out the side? thanks

Direction is usually not important, and a line with a tee going to the tailcone and out of the boat sounds correct.
