  • MSD Ignition

What moduals are recommended for a 720 with semi aggressive hipo parts that include: Factory Pipe, Dual 44bn's, milled head and an unknown pitch of skat trac. Boat is a 95 HX.

Currently the ignition has a 3200 rpm module and a 800. Is this normal?

    That doesn't make sense.

    Maybe 8200 rpm limiter chip?

If you have an older model analog MSD total loss ignition with three plug-in modules, one is for the rev limiter, one is for the retard start and one is for the amount of retard per 1000 rpm.

Should be something like 8200, 4500 and the retard rate should be set according to the max rpm you boat turns when riding it. Lets say it turns 7500 rpm. If so, to start the retarding at 4500 you'll need 3000 rpm band to remove, say 9 degrees. You would need a 3 degree per 1000 rpm chip (module).

So your modules would be 8200 rpm, 3 degree/1000, and 4500.

I suggest you contact MSD and get the instructions, then read them.
