Carb rebuild kit question

I ordered two carb rebuild kits for my 97 Yamaha 760 and noticed that there is an extra spring (I really hope it's extra) in the kit. It's slightly shorter than the other one that matches the original spring. What's this one for?

Discard it. Not all carbs use the same springs, but they put it in the kit if you have a different model carb that uses less pop off pressure than your carb. The kits are universal for most models of SBN's.
