  • WSM or Wiseco pistons??

That is the question. I know WSM are cast and Wiseco are forged. Any thoughts or opinions on which are better and why? and what is the deal with the platinum coating on WSM, is this a good thing? Thanks, Steve

Search the subjet it has been covered before. Forged pistons are not good for rec ski's.

Yeah I did a search after I posted this. Sounds like forged pistons are high maintenance like my wife, so cast it is...lol

If the bore is oversize, why not use SBT pistons?

If you need to have the cylinders bored, then this may be your best alternative:

if its WSM or WISCO then WSM is the pick , but SBT pistons work just as well and can be orderd from the site your on or with a phone call . with any piston the machine work is more important then the piston its self . to tight POOF to loose shatter .

            ProX, try atlanticjetsports or LAsleeve.

Japan's ART is the manufacturer of ProX.

Mumbo jumbo on here about wisecos. I used oem, seized. I used prox, seized. I used wsm, pretty good. I used wisecos, no problems what so ever and its the longest lasting 951 motor I have had. If you set the clearance up around .065 to .080 you should be fine. Make sure to warm the motor up good, you should do this anyway before gunning it WOT like most of the idiots do the minute they start the ski up. Wisecos will go in all my motors from now on if its a modified motor, but if it stays stock, WSM.

                Thanks shooter,

Question: WSM won the piston battle this time. I got a deal I could not refuse, anyway they are 1mm over so what clearance would you recommend? .065 for wiseco, same for wsm? Thanks

                  Re: WSM or Wiseco pistons??

I believe for wsm you can go .055 to .065. WSM are good pistons, don't get me wrong and they are cheap. I ran them in my 95xp800 with no problem, but that was on a stock ski. Not sure how they hold up on a modded one. I know Chris uses them a lot in his setups, so he'd be more incline to know more than I on wsm's. I got them from Chris at a great deal, hell I get great deals from Chris on a lot of my parts.
