  • Bill, help with a Coffmans setup

I was looking at ur site and it listed a coffmans exhaust system for a xp limited. I have a 1999 and was wondering if you sold the appropriate rev limiter that was not a "total loss" set-up. Also what other pieces of equipment will I need as far as jetting and an impeller. Also what kind of gains does your induction kit give... just got a new ride and Im looking to make it fast. Money is not too much of an issue.
    My rides:
    1995 Kawasaki Zxi 900
Beach house sponsons, OP ride plate/Intake grate and an R&D scoop grate for ocean Swirl Impeller.
1999 xp limited (just got it Mods in progress)
Decked 1996 Seadoo HX (cya at the races)
    1995 Seadoo SP x 2 (ones a parts boat)
    1990 Seadoo GT
1991 Kawasaki 550 sx Stand up
Intake grate, Ride plate, Impellers, custom paint job, and other goodies
    Riding Spots:
Lakes and ocean in washington state and California

    Swiftman,
I suggest re-programming the 99 MPEM as it is all OEM and much easier than wiring in a new ignition.

Our induction system offers much better accelleration, and with our rejetting and flame arresstors kit, will give better top speed and rpm. Should you decide to install larger carbs, the gains are even more dramatic.

At this time, there are no new Coffman Exhaust systems available for sale. I hope to have some later this year.

Re: Bill, help with a Coffmans setup

I am Seriously thinking about getting into racing lately. i have now have a better boat compared to the zxi 900 I have been riding lately ( its a nice boat but doesnt stand a chance and it took alot to get it to handle like i want, weras the xp almost does it stock. i saved alot of money on it by trading a carport to a guy for the ski. And i payed for the Building at cost. Therefore I wish to use the money i saved by dumping it into the ski in the form of ijsba legal mods. unfortunately im not sure which class to commite to so I will be replying again within the next couple days.

Re: Bill, help with a Coffmans setup

          Swiftman,
Other than the fact that you will need a Skat Trak pump and a few other things to be competive in the limited class, jumping from a stock class to the limited class is not a huge stretch.
I suggest anyone just starting out in IJSBA racing go into the stock class. There you will learn a ton of stuff to make you a better racer. After a year in the stock class you may decide you like it there, or you may decide that you want more. When you can consistantly run up front in whatever class you chose to run in, then is the time to make the decision of stepping up. The difference of a stock XPL and a Limited XPL is about $3500.00 in parts..

Re: Bill, help with a Coffmans setup

            Hey Bill,
You might give coffman a call.
I talked with them a few months ago and they
said the were going to stamp some more XPL pipe
            system's out for sale.
Don't know if they have any as of yet, but they indicated
they were getting an influx of calls for that pipe system.
And good luck to you swiftman.
I run a piped xpl limited and am very happy with it.
Though I have stock carbs with atomizers, micro-touch rev limiter,
            And a stock (98) BRASS pump (blue printed) with a skat 15.5 - 22.5
You might want to consider a UMI steering system, that will increase your
handleing and improve boat turning (IMO).
Any way, good luck. Have any ???'s just ask......
