  • 05 Vx110 or 04 Seadoo GTI-RFI LE

    Hi,
I am in the market for an entry level family ski with a certain amount of options. The two I am leaning towards are the new '05 VX100 Deluxe or an '04 GTI-RFI LE. The Seadoo is about $700 cheaper being as its an '04. Both are equipped aobut the same. I will be using the skis for family fun and will be towing tubes, wakeboards, and skiers. Both skis put out 110 HP. The VX is a 4 stroke and the GTI is a 2 stroke. I cannot find alot of reviews on either, but what I have read shows the GTI quicker from 0-30, a slightly faster top speed, more storage, and much quieter(to my surprise). I got this info from boattest.com. Of the reviews I have read, both are getting good marks. From what I can gather, 2 strokes are on there way out, even though the Seadoo has clean technology. Is now the time to bite the bullet and buy a 4 stroke or is the Seadoo a good deal? Longevity isn't a major concern because I live in Montana and our watercraft season is pretty short. Any comments would be greatly aprreciated.

I cant imagine the Doo is quieter than the Yamaha. I have ridden the vx and i was very impressed. Very smooth very quiet! and great power band for a 4 stroke. Great fuel economy. My suggestion would be the Yamaha.

I generally prefer SeaDoo skis to other brands. It's just a personal preference thing. So in, my mind, there is really no choice with between those two skis.

      Go with the Yamaha.
4 cycle, newer technology, good reviews, etc.
If I were ready for a new family ski, that would be the one, no question.

My family has an 03 GTI-RFI LE and it is a nice ski. The only major drawback is that it is a very wet ride. Lots of spray over the bow reguardless of conditions. Other than that it is a nice ski with a lot of nice attributes. Lots and lots of storage room. Swingdown step on back, and the digital dash has lots of things it reports. Speed, engine rpm, outside air temp, water temp. compass direction and more. I just hope you like spray in the face. Because without a spray guard mounted on the front, you are going to get sprayed.

You also might think about the cost of gas. The four stroke is going to get better gas milage and isn't going to need two stroke oil added all the time which translates to lower operating cost for the four stroke.

          Just some things to consider.
If it is squirting, it must be good

Go with the VX. I recently checked them out at the AC boat show and was very impressed with 'em.

Sure I haven't ridden one yet but I think the 'Doo is light years behind for the $.

I am stumped by the same question here in aust the gti/le I can get it for about $11,200 au the yamaha is going to be about $14,000 au for the base not the deluxe. as I need about 3 or 4 of them the seadoo saves me a bunch
but the oil will end up costing a fortune
If a customer hires it for a long time I have to trust that they will put oil in it
love the one button start stop, easy flush and good re-sale if the business fails
              Yamaha VX 4 stroke
              no oil thing for customers
cheap to run (but thats not my problem)
idealy I would love to rent the stx12f but at $17,500 its just too rich
              be good,
              if you cant be good,
              be carefull
              if you can't be carefull,
              buy a pram
