MY FRIENDS AND I RIDE OUR SKIS ON A LAKE ABOUT FIFTEEN MILES WEST OF MINNEAPOLIS,MN IN CRYSTAL BAY. THE NICE PART ABOUT THIS BAY I S THAT IT IS A GO BETWEEN SPOT FOR SEVERAL GIGANTIC BOATS THAT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS
BAY BETWEEN TWO BRIDGES TO GET TO A POPULAR BAR ON THIS LAKE. THE WAKES ARE HUGE! I NEVER KNEW MY SLTH COULD GO AIRBORNE LIKE IT DOES. FUN FUN FUN TIL THE HULL CRACKS OPEN IN MINNESOTA MATT

So how is the water patrol (aka) cops out that way? I hear its pretty thick... We stick to the St.Croix it is the best I have found for giant wakes

THE WATER COPS ON LAKE MINNETONKA ARE OUT IN FULL FORCE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT BUT I THINK THAT IS THE TRUTH WITH MOST LAKES TO SOME EXTENT. (I SKI AT A LAKE JUST NORTH OF ST CLOUD ALSO AND I FIND THAT THE DNR AND COUNTY WATER PATROL ARE OUT ON THAT LAKE OFTEN HENCE THE FACT IT IS ONLY 1/2 MILE IN DIAMETER. ) I JUST ADVOID THE BOOZE AND MAKE SURE ALL MY SAFETY EQUIPMENT IS ONBARD AND THE WATER COPS TEND TO LEAVE YOU ALONE. IF OUR LOCAL WATER COPS ARE SORT OF UPTIGHT I WONDER WHAT THE COAST GUARD IS LIKE??????
THANKS FOR THE INFO ON ST CROIX.....ILL HAVE TO TRY THAT

Check out the name!! it says it all. I have a 97 SPX and seriously got 10+ feet of air off wake on this lake. All I have to say is full out superman airs!! The big boats are everywhere and usually get 1-2 boats each day on the weekends that kick up perfect wake (like 4-5' rollers) and make it worth the ride. I cant stand even riding anywhere else. I've been talking friends into buying machines so I have people to take to the river. I heard like two hours south of hudson is just sweet as far as sand bars and chilling, but I'd have to say big island on minnatonka cant be beat. I guess I know enough people out there to have too much fun for my own good. (I.E. there are NO ugly women there I guarentee it!!) The cops are out in full force but most of the time they are busy. They do pull jetskis over just to try to get you without the requirements, but if you are cool with them there isnt much problems. I was chasing a boat on sunday along with 3 other people oviously closer than 150' and i saw a sheriff and thought we would all be chased but he ignored it. They roll in boats that are easily seen from a 1/2 mile away and you can back off in plenty of time. I'm telling anyone who likes big air to drive 3 hours to kick it out on tonka for a weekend. You'll love it! >>>Speedster...where on the river do you ride and are the barges out in full force?? I've rented skis on the ocean during a wind advisory and **** is that sick. I'm sure barges are kind of like that....but jumping boat wake you have a calm area to land. Oh and if you like to then bigs is the place...

i have to agree with you about the wakes on minnetonka.....it was out there yesterday and thought my ski was going to crack in half after all of the waves i got major air time off of.......beware of the cops now though more than ever....THERE IS A 600 FOOT NO WAKE AREA FROM THE SHORE DUE TO THE HIGH WATER>>>>>>This makes things jammed up like you wouldnt believe.

I saw that 600 ft thing thats crap. Alot of the bays arent even 1200ft wide. And on top of it its dropped a foot sense its peak. Oh by the way you should check your hull and screws to your ride plate and intake grate. I sheared off the screws on one side of my 96 sl700 last year and cracked some supports in the hull. My friend bought it and just layed a big layer of fiberglass in there. I'm gonna be at odds with these ******* cops!!! We are planning on going down to prescott at the end of august. It sounds like hella fun But if I get a taste i'll have to have it more. We were out on tonka today and the storm came in and we were hitting like 4' chop going full speed on the way in. it was crazy...Also the big boats were moving and some serious superman airs were very common. This big air stuff is like greens I cant get enough. im not sayin im just sayin

ok what launch do i go to get on minnitonka and whats this about a poker run on the st croix or something like that i usually go to white bear lk and leech lake but the boats are few and far between but they are 35 to 45 footers and can follow them for looooongggggg time and can get real close only one sheriff up there and i know him personally and he docks in our harbor so no worries. ya long drive but huge lake and waves.

Theres a ton of launches all over minnatonka. I live in wayzata so I use the one by the sailing club. Theres a new one in greys bay. There all pretty busy so the earlier the better. I wont be out there till 14-15th; still tring to get my spx back together. Dont know anything about the st. croix hopefully going to get out there this summer. LOL note that this post started last year!!

The thread seems dead but figured I would bump. Just waiting for the ice to melt (got a few more months) but always looking for people in the twin cities area to ride wit. Usually in the Forest Lake area on weekdays but hit the croix on weekends.:beer
