  • New battrey top-up problem

Got a new battery which ended up being massively overcharged (the wrong charger was connected, standar 4amp car one rather than the automaic one i had bought!!) and was left on for 2-3 days, when i realised and turned it off the battery fluid was really low, about half way down the battery, i have topped up with water (loads of it) question is can i drain and re-fill it with new fluid? what do i fill it with? is the battery dead? It was basically new and the inside plates still look as good as new but performance since top up with water is OK but only just, any thoughts please.

    Thanks

I would bet it's toasted, but there's no way to know untill you properly fill it, charge it then have it load tested.

Never fill a battery with anything but distilled water - when the battery fluid gets low it's ONLY from water evaporation, not the acid. If you add more actual acid solution the concentration will be too high.
