  • DI break-in

What does Kawasaki recomend on it's FICT equiped DI boats as far as the break-in procedure? "Ultra-130" "STX1100-DI"

Do they suggest mixing oil with first tank or not?

    Polaris DI's have mixed info.

The manual states to use break-in oil, however if you call Kawi customer service and speak to tech support, they say it really isn't necessary. I added a little on my '01 STX, when I broke it in. The only adverse affect is fouling those expensive plugs ($45 for 3). As far as running it during break-in, the manual just states to vary the throttle to no more than 3/4's for the first 5 hours. No full throttle runs. I used the old school approach, of 15 minutes run time at idle, 30 minutes at 1/4 throttle, 1/2 throttle, 3/4 throttle, full throttle w/3-5 second blasts. Also 30 minute cool down periods downs in between. I also went with a duration period of 10 hours vs. the suggested 5. I used this technique on all my ski's and I've never had an engine failure in 11 years. This includes 2 Sea-Doo's.
