  • js550 hull disassembly advice

I'm looking for some info about hull disassembly. The glue sealing the top half of my ski to the bottom half is busted. I need to reseal it. Are there any good tips to the dismantaling of the two halves without breaking the fiberglass. I've seeked advice everywhere but no one wants to touch this fragile subject. ANYONE PLEASE HELP!

Hmmm...can't say I've known anyone to ever split the halves cleanly. Maybe a lot of heat and a chisel?

I havent tried it yet ( im going to in a week or so)
BUT ive heard that you need heat, like a heat gun, or some folks said a propane torch, and then some putty knives and work your way around really carefully.

if that doesnt work for me, Im planning to use a sawzall thru the bottom hull ( its wrecked BAD) about 1/2 inch from the seam, then Ill flip the whole thing over and you some 150 grit disks on angle grinder, or big sander to grind the edge back down. its hidden by the rub rail, and you could youse the new glue to fill in any imperfections.

      just my ideas
