Before installing my new engine, I cleaned all the parts including the stator. The stator had a bit of oil on it so when I re-installed it I put a thin film of water resistant grease on it. Is that ok? Should I have to adjust the timing for this new engine?

No need to retime. The actual contacts should be clean, the rest doesn't need anything but a thin film won't hurt anything.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
