Is there a way to check to see if an oil pump is working correctly? I just want to make sure everything is in good working order before the engine goes together.

which type if ski? Yes you should as long as you know how much oil should be pumped. The normal process is premix 50:1 remove the oil lines run the engine and measure the amout of oil pumped from each line.
