A couple of days ago a buudy and I bought two kawasaki STX 1100 DI Jet Skis. We took them out today for the first time. Mine ran great for the first half hour or so. All of a sudden the engine warning light came on and the Jet ski wen t into what I think is sometype of protective mode. The engine was running fine, no weird noises or anything. I shut the power off and then turned it back on and the light went off. After riding it again a couple mins later it did it again. I took it home checked the spark plugs, battery, and a few other things. It all looked fine. I am not Jet ski savy, so I am stuck w/ what to do next. If anyone has had this happen to them or know what the problem might be that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem W/ my 2000 Kawasaki STX 1100 DI
Flush the ski with the flushing port to try to clear any obstructions.
Your exhaust pipe or computer box is overheating. You will have to put it in the lake and test drive it and feel the pipe and computer when riding to see if they are getting hot. If you are not sure if it is the pipe or the computer you can unplug the pipe sensor from the wire harness and see if it still does it. If so then you know it is the computer and not the pipe sensor.
The computer sensor it inside the metal box under the steering area and you can take off the water hoses and make sure they are clear when you are flushing it out.
Make sure when flushing that you never have the water on without the engine running or you may get water inside the enegine from the exhaust pipe filling up.Providing mobile JetSki service to the Charlotte / Lake Wylie area.
