1100 stx problem possible Starter?

Put in for first time this year last monday.
Ski would go only 1/2 speed, pulled out of water and hooked up to hose & was running fine until it locked up & smoked a little.

My Father seems to think possibly the starter as it was making a rattle noise as it was running and the little smoke from below.

Would the starter being stuck keep it from running at full speed?

What else could I look at for the fix of the problem?

No the starter would have nothing to do with that.


What it sounds like is you seized and mau have thrown a rod through your case, if you saw smoke come up from below. Pull the engine and tear it down for inspection.
