my zxi dies when i nail the throttle out of the hole. if i go real easy its alright. the ski is stock except for a TDR waterbox. is this causing my problem. i've gone through the carbs twice and she'll run 66mph according to the onboard speedo. my only problem is getting out of the hole. what can i do to fix this?

Re: 96 zxi 1100 hesitation
I would first check the accelerator pump and make sure its working. It is located on the most forward carburetor and gives a shot of gas when the throttle is moved quickly. On top of each of the carburetors should be a nipple and a common line between them that goes to the pump. You should be able to manually operate the pump with a screwdriver or something, out of the water, to see if your getting gas up there.

Re: 96 zxi 1100 hesitation
when i pull the throttle quick all three nipples shoot a nice stream of gas. is there a way to get more? it seems if i pump the throttle a few times i can get out of the water quicker. i also get a popping sound from the exhaust if i hold it steady at about half throttle. would this be part of the same problem or just a characteristic of the TDR can? any kind of info at all is appreciated

Re: 96 zxi 1100 hesitation
was it doing this before you installed the TDR waterbox? i had to re-adjust my carbs after installing a Power Plenum as it sucks much more air and needed more fuel at idle, it was bogging when tried to accelerate quickly and would stall out, i assume the exhaust system might have the same effect.

Re: 96 zxi 1100 hesitation
thanks for the help. the problem was the pilot screws. I opened them up 1/4 turn and it cured about 90% of the problem, another 1/4 would have been great but i was made an offer on the ski i couldn't refuse before i got to adjust it. thanks everybody.
