  • Burning OIl

I just bought a 98 STX 1100. It seems to be burning alot of oil. Smokes alot. I cant seem to get it over 55 MPH on the water. Also my fuel gage (its digital) GOes out of wack when full. Reads empty until I get down to 1/4 of a tank. How can I lean out my mixture so it doesn't smoke as much and get it to run faster.

What oil is in it? And 55 on GPS is about normal for a STX1100.

      Re: Burning OIl

I am using a PWC high performance oil I purchased from Western Boat. It is a 2-cycle oil made for jetskiis. Also I use the ski in a shuttlecraft. Up until recently I could go up to 30 mph with it in the shuttle. Now I cant get it over 11 mph. Runs fine when by itself but boggs down when in the shuttlecraft. I dont have any water in the bilges or no added weight. What would cause this loss of power? :emoticoncThanks for the help

try using kawachem oil and 87 octane fuel. also try replacing your spark plugs. they may be fouled and this would cause the loss of power.
