  • Blown up 900

I have a similar issue..1996 900 zxi just bought in July with a 1and 1/2 old SBT engine and the first day out seized the 3rd cylinder. The local kawaski machanic ordered a new top end kit and carb rebuild kits from SBT and said the crank looked fine. Got it back together, rattle in 3rd cylinder. Thrust washer was destroyed. Now the crank is with SBT. What could cause the 3rd cylinder to run lean and cause all of this damage? Alos, is this common with ZXIs?
    Thanks

      Re: Blown up 900

There is no way anyone can guess what happened without seeing all the parts. I would say one thing is fairly obvious though - the mechanic who said the crank was fine was wrong.
