Tilt control box 96 ZXI 900

I am new to skis and wondered if there should be any preventative maintenance done on the triangular box that controls the trim while I have the motor out. I am waiting on a crank from SBT and I have noticed that a lot of the ZXIs 4 sale on the net say the trim isn't working.

I would make sure the seal on the cable looks good. A new seal is only a couple of dollars from dealer. I know some early ZXI replace the seal with a totally different seal. The seal is where the cable exits the hull where the metal part slides in and out.
