My new SBT motor is on the way and I have gone thru the carbs and the oil pump and did not find any problems. Since this is my second motor and nothing stands out as a problem I wanted to do the Kawasaki oil pump test from the dealer service manual that says to:
1. Mix oil and gas 50:1 in the tank.
2. Disconnect and plug the oil lines going to the carbs and bearings.
3. Connect temporary lines to the oil pump and inject them with oil.
4. Run the temporary lines to measuring cups.
5. Start the engine and run at 3000 rpms for two minutes.
6. Measure the amount of oil in the cups.
Since I will be testing the fresh engine without the oil pump lines hooked up should I increase the mix in the 1st tank ?
If I knew how many rpms the oil pump shaft turned with the engine running at 3000 rps I could duplicate it on a bench.
