96 zxi 1100 black wire with red bands around it...where does it go????

1996 zxi 1100.just installed brand new sbt engine.theres a black wire with red bands around it coming from the harness.i THINK it goes to the battery,but not sure which post.when i connect it to the hot post,the temp light comes on.....HHHEEEELLLLPPPPP

I'm not sure, I'll look in the manual Monday and see if I can find anything. If I were you I would ask on www.pwctoday.com and see if anyone else knows.

I believe that one goes to the neutral on the battery -- both my ZXI ('98) and ultra have this wire. (as long as we're thinking the same one...)

thats funny when i was an electrician id call the neutral wires negative....... anyways i just bought a 96 1100 zxi and 97 stx 1100 ill look tomorrow and see if i hav that wire
