98 kawasaki running funny...
i have a 98 kawasaki 1100 stx and it seems to be running funny. whenever i go to accelerate it starts to run sluggish and tops out at 35 mph, after keeping it pinned for a few min. it opens up and runs just fine until i let off the throtle then it goes back to running the same way it was. i've been told that it might be my carbs. can anybody help me...

my wife has the same ski.no problams yet it does sound like carbs r stoped up a bit.after u get them cleaned try running penzoil marine 2cy oil.i dont run her ski out fo gas 4 winter what is left in it after summer stays in hers and my 750 over winter it keeps gas in good cond.i have done it that same way 4 about 6yrs now.good luck -

take the fuel filter out and look at it and clean or replace it if possible, thats what happend to me.. but it had a few other issues, but that was one of them. seemed like it was fuel starving, sure enough I replaced the fuel filter and it ran good :-)Comment
