  • center piston fried

I fried my center piston of my 900ZXI because of a carb that was not properly jetted (too lean). I have a few small scratches that can be felt in the cylinder. Is it necessary to bore all three cylanders and buy new pistons or can I just replace the bad piston and tune the carb? What can go wrong by not boring all the cylinders? How much life can I expect out of the motor by just replacing the bad piston? The other two pistons and cyinders are fine. SBT rebuilt less than 100 hours ago.

Clean carbs are important for the engine to live a good long life. Carbs should be inspected at the begining of every season, This means a quick look inside the carbs, they will not always need rebuilding. If the damage is afew light scratches you might be ok with honing and a new piston. Tom SBT tech.
