  • 2001 STX D.I. engine seized

Engine seized up while flushing on dry land, so no real load on it. Took the head cover off and it looks like a piston ring shattered cuz there is junk fused to the top of one piston and the head cover for that cylinder. I'm just starting to tinker with these jetskis and I see SBT has a top end exchange solution. My question for the experienced is when a piston seizes like this is there normally any lower end damage (crank..etc) ? I know I need to break it down to check but this will be the first time I've done it, so I'm looking for any suggestive feedback. Thanks!

Check the crank shaft for metal fragments that might have damaged the bearings.

Will do....I'm thinking it may be a chore to get the top end off since the piston is seized up. Any tricks of the trade and/or things to be careful of?
