900zxi exhaust manifold removal

I cannot get the exhaust manifold off of the head. I have tried just about everything....is there a trick or something painfully obvious I am missing.

You might want to remove the motor mount bolts then push the engine forward to disconnect it from the drive shaft then pull it over on its side. There is not a lot of room so this is how I usually do it.
