Kawi 650TS Electrical question

I just reinstalled the engine after replacing the starter and bendix. Two red cables from the electrical box. I marked one of them to go to the starter. It appeared a little short..Apparently i marked it wrong. One long red cable with heat protector tubing and the shorter red cable. Does the longer one with the heat tubing go to the starter and shorter one to the battery? thanks

Do you have the cable routed correctly? On my kawasaki 900 the longer cable definately goes to the battery, no question about it.

At this point i have the longer cable going to the battery and the short cable is connected to the starter. It only now seems like the shorter cable i had to tug on it a little to get in on the post on the starter. I used the lanyard and tried to start it and nothing. I know the battery is good, its brand new. Any more ideas?
