Newbie with 2005 STX 12F that wont run

Just bought a 2005 STX 12F. Took it to the lake, put it in the water, cranked fine, went out approx. 75 yrds. started bogging down. Limped back to shore, put on trailer while still in water, took seat off. Cranked and reved up to approx. 5000 rpm. Put seat back on, started acting like it was bogging down. Took seat back off, reved up to 5000 again. Put seat back on, went into water. Started off, and same problem. RPMs would not go but to about 2000. Took out of water. Took to house, and put on water hose. Cranked and idled like a champ. Would rev to approx. 7500-8000 rpm. Took hose off, took back to lake. SAME PROBLEM!!! Did this for several hours. HELP!!!

Look for an exhaust leak, its choking out the motor with the seat on.
