900 zxi question

Hey im new to this forum and jet skis themselves. I have had quads and dirtbikes and boats my whole life but no skis.

I just bought a 96 900zxi that starts and runs but when you get on the throttle it will bog down. I wanted to see what you would do as a first move. I was going to clean the carbs and go from there but wanted to see if anyone else had an opinion.

does it smoke alot? I would also check compression on all three cyl. how long if so has it been sitting? the gas may be creating a problem too. it doesnt stay good as long as it use too.

it barely smokes at all. this ones been run earlier in the summer but most of the year it has been sitting

Just another thought...

You might try pulling the spark plugs after you try to run it for a minute or so. Make sure that all three spark plugs are wet(getting gas/oil) to some degree.
